In our last post, we talked a little about being a hair care company who also believes in supporting causes. Today, we’re talking more about that and the importance for a business to have a cause they support.
Specifically, for Ishimma, we believe the empowerment of young women and girls to be who God has called them to be is extremely important and hope that we will be able to continue to be involved in this for our entire existence. When a woman truly knows her worth and has confidence, her potential is limitless. She could do something big like… start a hair care company!
At this point we’re looking for nonprofit/philanthropic organizations that fit our vision and identity as a company. Someone may argue that picking a cause and looking for organizations to collaborate with now is too early in our history as a company. As of the writing of this post, we have not yet opened our store for sale. But, we don’t feel that it’s ever too early to be philanthropic and to have a giving focus for your company. We want to incorporate this into our business practices from the start!
There is a biblical principle called tithing that was observed in the Old Testament where the people of Israel were commanded to give up 10% of what they had to the Lord. While we’re not stating that we’re bound to this law, we’re using 10% as a good rule of thumb. For our company, we think 10% is the minimum and hope to be cheerful givers who provide even more support- we hope and pray that through our service and philanthropy we’ll be able to give and help those programs in need of our support. We’re emphasizing this in our post also because we hope that our customers realize that an investment into our hair products and our company as a whole is an investment into the community.
We’ll keep you updated on our progress in the search.
